We only ran into one river detour getting out of Passau. Other than that it was a smooth day riding through the Austrian section of the Danube. We passed through mountainous terrain carved by the river on both sides. We stopped for lunch at a Thai place right on the route and had Tom Ka soup. The day was a little chilly with mostly overcast skies. We saw lots of river boats on our way to Linz. We took a car ferry across the river for 4 euros each. Paul, John and I camped while Mitch and Mark went to a hostel.
